Housewares suppliers can help residents from Florida to North Carolina recover from Hurricanes Helene and Milton by donating products to Good360, the International Housewares Association (IHA) announced today. IHA is partnering with Good360, a nonprofit that delivers needed goods to communities after disasters, to provide home products for survivors rebuilding their lives and homes. Previously, IHA and Good360 teamed up to aid recovery efforts for Hurricanes Florence, Michael, Irma and Harvey.
Hurricane Helene hit the Florida panhandle on Sept. 26, causing widespread damage through Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina, leaving more than 225 people dead and hundreds of thousands without power. On Oct. 9, Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida, further disrupting recovery efforts from Helena.
Good360 is collaborating with private, public, and nonprofit partners to supply critical recovery items. “Communities affected by both hurricanes will need housewares as they move into the rebuilding phase,” said Jim Alvey, Good360’s vice president of disaster recovery. Cash donations are also accepted, with every $1 allowing Good360 to distribute at least $30 worth of products.
There are no charges or fees for companies to donate, and housewares items are needed year-round for disaster recovery, housing insecurity and community rebuilding missions. Donors can ship items, but it’s not required.
“We’re pleased to partner with Good360 and leverage the generosity of the housewares industry to help make a difference for thousands of hurricane survivors,” said Derek Miller, IHA president & CEO. “Good360 is an organization with an impeccable track record of distributing needed products in a well-managed and structured way, and they work with hundreds of socially responsible companies in order to do so. We encourage our members to work with Good360 to support disaster recovery efforts in the most efficient and effective way possible.”
